Take advantage of the six free entrance days in 2025
Mark you calendar! Most national parks require admission for entry. Some popular parks charge up to $35 per car. Each year, the National Park Service designates a handful of dates as free entrance days.
Free entrance dates
There are six free days in 2025. If you’re looking to save a little money on entrance fees, plan your visit on one of these days:
- January 20th: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr
- April 19th: First day of National Park Week
- June 19th: Juneteenth National Independence Day
- August 4th: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
- September 27th: National Public Lands Day
- November 11th: Veterans Day
While entrance fees are waived, visitors still might encounter other costs at the parks such as camping fees, boat launches, or special tours..
America the Beautiful annual pass
If you plan to visit several national parks this year, it may be worth purchasing an America the Beautiful annual pass. It costs $80 and provides access to the entire park system for the whole year. You may qualify for a free or discounted pass if you’re a member of the military, a person with a disability or if you have a 4th grader in your family.
Across the country, the National Park Service hosts more than 330 million visitors each year across 400 park sites. KidTripster writers and editors have visited all of America’s national park, and written about many of them. Be sure to check out our A-Z park guides when planning your trip.
