Video: One Week with UnCruise Adventures

by KyAnn Lewis

UnCruise Adventures’ “Kids in Nature: Wild Wolly & Wow in Glacier Bay” itinerary is designed for families.

Although the award-winning small ship cruise company welcomes kids on-board for pretty-much all itineraries, the Kids in Nature experience in Southeast Alaska is unique. It’s family-focused with an emphasis on fun.

Some things our kids loved:

  • Making new friends with the 42 other kids on-board (there usually aren’t this many children on a sailing).
  • Having a kids only experiential happy hour each night that included things like science experiments.
  • Ordering kid-friendly food when they felt like pizza or nuggets instead of a 4-course gourmet meal.
  • Making s’mores on the beach.
  • Ordering craft mocktails from the bar.
  • Participating in a talent show.
  • Becoming Junior Rangers at Glacier Bay National Park.
  • The opportunity to try new things like bushwhacking and kayaking.
  • Getting up close to nature and wildlife.
  • Doing the polar plunge even though it was freezing to jump into glacier water.

KidTripster’s Eliza shares her perspective in this one minute recap of her week on-board:

During each day of our cruise, we had several options for activities. On a typical day they include hiking, bushwhacking, kayaking, taking a skiff tour, etc. Typically two activities are offered each day, allowing guests to get off the ship in the morning, then return for lunch, and do another activity in the afternoon.

All meals, drinks, and activities are included with the cost of your sailing. UnCruise Adventures offers three Kids in Nature sailings in the summer of 2025. These sailings fill up so book early.
