Stunning architecture, convenient location, and an abundance of hospitality make Rosen Shingle Creek a perfect family resort in Orlando.
Rosen Shingle Creek is a first-class resort. When you arrive, you’ll be in awe of the early 1900s Spanish architecture. Then the front desk staff graciously welcomes you. The smiles and positive attitudes were so noticeable that even my 5-year-old commented on how nice everyone was. Located moments away from the best that Orlando has to offer, guests still feel secluded in the natural setting of this 230-acre property with its walking trails and on-site fishing. The Shingle Creek itself is the northernmost headwaters of the Florida Everglades.

The impressive arches and fine woodwork from the lobby continue to the room. And spacious! The guest rooms are definitely the largest that my family and I have ever stayed in. The floor-to-ceiling windows and accompanying views are spectacular. In fact, our two boys spent most of their time in the room standing at the windows and looking out. With a toddler, we very much appreciated the lack of hard corners and exposed electrical outlets; it’s almost as if the room was designed to be child-proofed. Room rates start at $157/night. If you need even more space, step up to one of the many multi-bedroom suites. Suites rates start at $259/night.
The Rosen Shingle Creek is a pet-friendly property. Just give advance notice, so that you can be placed in an appropriate room.

The premiere location of this property is of the utmost importance. Within a 10-minute radius of the hotel, you’ll find all of the Disney theme parks, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld.
KidTripster Tip: Rosen Shingle Creek provides a complimentary shuttle to the parks, including Universal, SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Wet ’n Wild, at regular intervals, allowing you to skip the obligatory $15 (minimum) theme park parking.
The resort offers a variety of activities. With four pools, two tennis courts, basketball court, Olympic-regulated sand volleyball court, video arcade, nature trail, seasonal fishing, and an 18-hole championship golf course, there’s enough here to keep the whole family busy.
My boys thoroughly loved the pools – morning, noon, and night. They are huge, perfectly lighted, and meticulously landscaped; each is its own perfect oasis. And, if you time it right, you can even catch the nightly fireworks from nearby Magic Kingdom.

With over 15 dining options here, guests don’t go hungry. One of our favorites was Mi Casa Tequila Taqueria. Open for lunch and dinner, this restaurant’s décor is extravagant. Sample some Mexican favorites and be sure to try the tableside guacamole service. Delicioso!
The 18 Monroe Street Market was incredibly convenient. Open 24 hours, it’s the perfect spot to grab lunch on the go or to bring something back to your room after a long day playing. The Market serves fresh deli sandwiches, snacks, and quick order meals.
For a quick bit in the morning, try Smooth Java. Serving Starbucks coffee, this coffee bar is a perfect spot for gourmet pastries, breakfast treats, and juices.
But my 5-year old’s favorite, of course, was Creek Ice Creamery. The ice cream parlor serves ice cream, sundaes, shakes, and homemade waffle cones. Somehow a vacation isn’t quite a vacation without ice cream at least once a day!
