Before the leaves start to change color or the calendar officially turns to fall, Disneyland Resort transforms into Halloween Time. The festive season seems to arrive at Disneyland earlier each year. In 2026, the fall fun gets underway on August 18th with the first Oogie Boogie Bash of the season.

This year, there will be 33 nights of the popular party. That’s more nights than ever before. The Oogie Boogie Bash is held on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights, with a special Halloween night event on Saturday, October 31st.

Tickets for the Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party went on sale in late June. They do sell out. In recent years, tickets have been snatched up within hours. As of this writing, tickets are still available for most of the 2026 nights. The cost of tickets varies significantly by date, especially the closer you get to Halloween.

Here’s what to expect when attending the Oogie Boogie Bash:

  • This is special after hours event at Disney California Adventure Park. The park closes to other guests from 6-11 pm. Oogie Boogie Bash attendees are invited to arrive as early as 3 pm. Take advantage of this to make the most out of your ticket price. You’ll receive a bracelet upon entry that you’ll be asked to show cast members once 6 pm rolls around.
  • Depending on the day, tickets start at $139 per person and peak at $189 per person.
  • When you arrive at Disney California Adventure, you’ll receive a trick-or-treat bag. Grab one, you’ll need it! There will be several immersive trick-or-treat trails set up around the theme park. Trust us, you’ll leave with a ton of treats. You’ll also come face-to-face with some classic villains who are stationed along the trails.
  • As a perk of your ticket, you’ll receive unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital downloads. There will be lots of photo opportunities throughout the park, including fun backdrops and the chance to pose with characters in their Halloween costumes.
  • Several attractions are transformed for Halloween Time. Those include Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters after Dark.
  • Because attendance is limited, most attraction lines are relatively short, especially as it gets later. There are no Lightning Lanes available during the party hours.
  • The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms at night to Villains Grove, an eerie trail of smoke, lights, and music inspired by villains.
  • New for 2026 is “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party” is described as a ghoulish street inspired by the Haunted Mansion, and hosted by Madame Leota herself.
  • Be on the lookout for Ichabod Crane. At select times, you’ll see him hurrying through Disney California Adventure park as he tries to evadie the Headless Horseman.
  • If you want to secure prime seating for “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake”, you can purchase tickets to the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party. It’ll cost you an additional $139 per guest, but it includes several “Nightmare Before Christmas” themed desserts and drinks.
  • Look for event specific merchandise that can only be purchased during the event.
  • Costumes are allowed for all-ages, but with certain restrictions. Be sure to check out the rules.
  • For those planning a visit at the start of the spooky season, the limited-time Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer, is still available for tickets as low as $50 per child for a 1-Day, Park Hopper ticket on visits through September 7, 2026.

Other Holiday Festivities at Disneyland Resort

While the Oogie Boogie Bash is certainly fun, there are many other Halloween events around the Disneyland resort. Some of our favorite festivities include:

Holiday Attractions

In addition to the themed attractions at Disney California Adventure, don’t miss the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay at Disneyland. It’s inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” and we love it even more than the original.

Festive Decor

You can’t miss the festive decor found throughout the resort. We try to take a photo with the big pumpkin every year. It’s just inside the Disneyland entrance. My kids hate waiting in line for the photo, but I insist.

Be sure to check out the hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins that take over Main Street, USA. Some are in the likeness of your favorite characters. The detailed decor on Main Street, and beyond, is so fun.

Special Parades & Fireworks

A special Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular with fireworks on select nights at Disneyland.

For the little ones there “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” which is a stage show at Disney California Adventure Park. It’s more silly than spooky!

Characters in Costume

At this time of year, you might not recognize your favorite characters as they’re decked out in their Halloween costumes. We’re told the costumes are new this year featuring harlequin motifs. You’ll find them at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

KidTripster Tip: If your kids hate waiting in character lines, you can meet characters in costume at special dining events. Attend Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates Halloween for an opportunity to dine and meet characters in a more casual setting. There’s also a seasonal breakfast buffet offered at Storyteller’s Cafe at the Grand Californian.

Dia de los Muertos Celebrations

Dia de los Muertos has prominence throughout the parks, too. Be sure to visit the Plaza de la Familia located at the Paradise Garden Grill for a colorful celebration marked by food, music, art, storytelling and dance inspired by the Pixar film Coco. The street performance is a fun and lively event. You’ll also find a tribute to Dia de los Muertos in Disneyland by the Rancho del Zocala Restaurante.

Spooky Treats & Stuff

You can count on Disney to give your plenty of reasons to spend even more money. The themed treats are irresistible and new holiday merchandise debuts each year.

Where to Stay at Disneyland Resort

When attending the Oogie Boogie Bash, we prefer to stay at the Grand Californian or Pixar Place. These are the two Disney hotels closest to Disney California Adventure. The Grand Californian has an exclusive entrance into Disney California Adventure. It’s nice to have a short walk home at the end of a late night.
