As you make your way to the Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge location, you might find yourself wondering if you’ve taken a wrong turn. Once you leave the highway, the setting quickly becomes rural and wooded. But then an Under Canvas sign appears, and a few minutes later an outcropping of white tents pop up on the hillside, and you’ve arrived.
If getting to Under Canvas feels like a bit of a meander, staying there does too. You don’t need a bunch of gear, or the stress of setting it all up. It’s not camping, it’s glamping, which means you can leave the heavy lifting to someone else. All you need to do is settle in and relax.
Accommodations at Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge
There are a variety of tent configurations that can accommodate families big and small. We reserved a “Suite with Kids Tent” which can sleep up to six guests.
Our set-up was ideal. Our main tent had a king bed, plus a queen sofa bed. This tent’s other amenities included a private bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. It also had a seating area and a gas fireplace. Located adjacent to the main tent is the kids tent, which had two twin beds.

You’ll find everything you need inside your tents for a cozy stay – including luxe bedding, blankets, towels, and basic toiletries. There’s no electricity in the tents, but there are lanterns and power banks for charging cell phones.
KidTripster Tip: If traveling with a four-legged family member, dogs are welcome here for an additional fee.
Amenities at Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge
If you need something more, venture over to the lobby tent. It’s a sprawling space, with stylish furnishings from West Elm. For entertainment, there are a few dozen games available to borrow. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside.

KidTripster Tip: WiFi isn’t available on-site. It contradicts the Under Canvas mission of connecting with family and immersing yourself in the outdoors. We did have decent cell phone coverage here.
Scheduled activities often take place in and around the lobby tent. Look for the activities board to see what’s happening during your stay. Activities might include yoga, a painting class, live music, and special treats like root beer floats.

You’ll also find a nightly fire pit with complimentary s’mores. Free hot cocoa, coffee, and tea are available anytime.
